School Groups

Clew Bay Heritage Centre caters for primary, second- and third-level students. Our programme consists of:

  • A visit to the Heritage Centre, which begins with a guided tour. Using a model of Westport, the history of the town and the Clew Bay area is brought to life. There are quizzes and competitions for different age groups to make the learning a fun experience
  • A guided walking tour of the town of Westport








Ireland's struggle for independence
See original artefacts relating to Major John MacBride and his wife, Maud Gonne MacBride (inspiration of the love poetry of W B Yeats), autograph books of prisoners of war... and lots more from the War of Independence and Civil War periods.
